Marrakech is a former imperial city in western Morocco and a major economic centre with mosques, palaces and gardens. The medina is a densely populated medieval walled city dating back to the period of the Berber Empire, with labyrinthine passageways and bustling souks.

Essaouira is a port and tourist city on the Atlantic coast of Morocco. Its medina (old town) is protected by walls facing the coast. These walls, designed by European engineers, are called Skala de la Kasbah. Ancient metal cannons guard the city.

The Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou (Tamazight: ⴰⵢⵜ ⵃⴰⴷⴷⵓ, Ath Benhadu) is a ksar or "fortified town" in Morocco located in the Ouarzazate Province in the Drâa-Tafilalet region.[1] It stretches along the Ounila River. Most of the town's residents live in the new village across the river, but a few families still live in the ksar. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987, which describes it as follows.
